Probably everyone is familiar with Bonnie Tyler's 1983 hit, Total Eclipse Of The Heart, but many of you may not know that this song is actually about vampires. Originally penned by composer, Jim Steinman for the vampire Broadway musical, Nosferatu, the track was formerly titled 'Vampires In Love'. The lyrics center around life in eternal darkness and other standard vampire tropes. That puts a total new spin on Total Eclipse Of The Heart -- to be seen as a metaphor for the darkness and loss experienced by those in love with or affected by vampires. The musical was a flop, but the song became a massive hit in the 80s. Listen to the song now that you know this trivia, and it just all makes sense. Did you know this song was about vampires?

One of the most well know songs to come out of Disney's 1998 animated feature, Mulan is I'll Make A Man Out Of You. Fun, catchy song, right? Well, it may surprise you to learn that it draws inspiration from Sun Tzu's Art of War. Specifically, the lines "Be swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire" echo a passage from Art of War which reads, "Move swift as the Wind, and closely-formed as the Wood. Attack like the Fire, and be still as the Mountain." The song's message resonates with the idea of turning inexperienced individuals into formidable soldiers, a central theme in both the song and the Art of War. During a recording break (for the album Moving Pictures), the rock band, Rush decided to return home to Toronto. While travelling in a small private airplane, on the approach to Toronto, Alex Lifeson heard the airport's morse code identifier - YYZ. In their song YYZ the band decided to have a little fun with a secret hidden message inn the song's opening. The syncopated opening of YYZ mirrors the dots and dashes of its morse code equivalent. Did you have any clue about this embedded message in this song?

Empty Spaces, from Led Zepplin's The Wall album, contains a genuine hidden message, purposely placed within the track by Roger Waters. Listen to the song and you will hear a section of, what sounds like, gibberish. When this part is reversed, the following message is revealed: 'Congratulations. You've just discovered the secret message. Please send your answer to Old Pink, care of the Funny Farm, Chalfont' The prevailing opinion is that the intended recipient of the message is former Pink Floyd band member, Syd Barrett. It is said that the lead character, 'Pink', who is the focus of the album (a road-worn rock star who has fallen into obscurity) is more than a passing nod to Barrett himself. Did you ever play a song backwards to hear a supposed hidden message?
