"1/2 As Good As Her"

Rising Nashville-via-North Carolina singer/songwriter Caleb Hearn released his 2023 song "1/2 As Good As Her" as a tribute to his grandmother, and touches upon Caleb's deep relationship he has with her. Showcasing Caleb's vulnerability, the song resonates with authentic, heartfelt, and relatable storytelling. No matter what was going on for Caleb, his grandmother was always there for him, being both his rock and teacher from a young age. "1/2 As Good As Her" pays homage to the woman who has been his guiding light from the very start. This song is even more poignant, given that his grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, and Caleb wanted to make sure she knew exactly how he felt about her, in the best way he possibly could, through song. Benson Boone, who brought many people to tears with his beautiful tribute to his late grandmother, with his 2022 song "In The Stars", released this song this year (around Mother's Day) honoring his mother. Greatly affected by his grandmother's death, Benson knows even though his mother is alive, one day she will no longer be, and how much he will need something to hold onto and keep her memory alive for support. He wants her to fill his present with stories and memories, because he's "gonna need this When I'm holding pictures of you and that's all that I've got left".
