1. ...or music you hope becomes popular as pop music (as heard on pop radio, as opposed to any other radio. format and streaming category) and you were to only have one #1 single, would you rather it be...

...your first single to receive (inter)national exposure?

...somewhere in the middle of your run of chart-making popularity?

...as the last single of your stretch of popularity (and preferably not post mortem, yes?)?

...some other place in my career (which I may name in a comment)?

I'd rather have no #1 pop single(s) at all.

2. ...in so far as making your music, would you rather be known as...

...an auteur who has as much control as possible over your artistry (writing, singing, arranging, producing, playing instruments or choosing who does so, maybe even creating cover art, etc.)?

...a tool of producers, songwriters, et al who have in mind creating the most saleable musical product, which may or may not accurately reflect your creative personality at any given time?

...a collaborator or delegator with a firm vision of what you want your sound to be but grace enough to let the people working with you shine in the capacities for which you wanted them involved?

I'd define my role differently than any of the above (and may share a comment about it).

3. ...when it comes to making commercially viable artistic statements, would you rather be known as...

...a steady supplier of singles that resonate with large segments of the listening public?

...an album act known for making compelling longer works (but still cranking hit singles; this is still pop music, after all)?

...someone known for switching up your intention as the mood strikes you?

4. ...when it comes to where the spotlight should be in concert and your music videos, would you want to be...

...strictly a solo act?

...only known as a member of a group (duo, trio, quartet, etc.)?

...one of those rare performers who can maintain a successful solo career while being a member of a popular group?

5. ...would you want to limit yourself to only making money from music and related businesses or parlay your musical success into at least one other field?

Limit myself to music and./or adjacent businesses
