In online researching through old issues of music business trade magazines, I happened upon ads for a short-lived 1969-70 TV show called Music Scene. Do you recall seeing, or at least hearing/reading of, it?
Yes, seen it (either when it was broadcasted &/or on home video)

The show was unusual in at least two ways. Firstly, it drew from pop, rock, country, soul. classical, folk, blues and jazz, interspersed with comedy bits. Secondly, each episode ran 45 minutes. Considering the myriad ways music has changed in the past 50 years, would a current iteration of the same show format be something you'd want to watch (regardless the episode length)?

Music Scene didn't last very long, at least in part because of the time it aired. Its unorthodox time frame pitted it against two really popular series:the Western drama Gunsmoke and the hippie-informed comedy/variety show Laugh-In. Were you old enough to take in an evening of Monday night television as the 1960's rolled into the '70's, which program would you have rather have watched?

Music Scene's regular host, comedian/actor David Steinberg was allowed to get snarky when the music he was announcing wasn't to his liking, such as "Sugar Sugar" by cartoon band ("band"?!) The Archies. Do you appreciate it when TV or radio announcers are honest about their opinion of what they're presenting, even if it results in disdain for the material in question?

It's entirely conjecture now, but I feel that were Music Scene a ratings success that ran for multiple seasons, it may have influenced the direction of erstwhile music video cable channel MTV in its early days and, consequently, music in the 1980's and beyond. Does this seem like a feasible supposition to you?
