When The Weeknd (or Abel Tesfaye as he is now wanting to be known) set out to get people talking about his HBO series "The Idol" I doubt very much he was expecting everyone to be talking about how bad this series is. (Note, video, if you watch, could offend) Have you watched any of this series?

"The Idol" was originally packaged as "a show about a woman who was finding herself sexually," but it morphed into "a show about a man who gets to abuse this woman and she loves it." Reviews for the series cite the fact that both leads, Lily-Rose Depp and the Weeknd/Abel Tesfaye are one dimensional and unmotivated, the writing and directing are poor, the plot is weak, and the subject is boring and manipulative. Forget its promotion as a mega-scandalous expose of the Hollywood fame game. The only thing shocking about "The Idol" is how shockingly bad it is, according to almost every review. With reviews this bad, do you think this might have been a series done purely to shock people and get them talking?

After debuting in May at the Cannes Film Festival with two of its five episodes, "The Idol" was met with a chorus of boos. Of course, fans of The Weeknd will be watching no matter what, just because of him. Have you ever sat through a terrible movie or TV show just because of an actor in it?

I'll leave you with this review from Peter Travers of GMA, to explain exactly how bad The Weeknd is in this show, "It's said that the Canadian R&B singer, the son of Ethiopian immigrants, has never acted before. As far as I'm concerned, his record is clean". Oh burn... Do you enjoy his music, no matter what anyone thinks of his acting?
