The Drew Barrymore Show is reportedly returning without its WGA staffers amid the ongoing writers' strike. Production on most film and television projects have come to a halt as members of the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA remain at an impasse in contract negotiations with major studios and streamers. A spokesperson for CBS Media Ventures told CNN in a statement that "The Drew Barrymore Show will not be performing any writing work covered by the WGA strike." Actors who appear as guests on the upcoming season will have to follow SAG-AFTRA strike rules, which include not discussing or promoting any struck projects. Since the show claims that it will not perform any writing work covered by the WGA strike nor can actors promote their work, do you think this is a sufficient response to the strike?

It’s not too bad. Hollywood hasn’t come out with anything new of decent in years, writer strike or not! So all of these shows that require writers to tell the hosts what to say ir do are now turning things around so maybe you can see the truth! 0.05% 1

However, Barrymore's work as a performer on "The Drew Barrymore Show" is not a violation of current strike rules because the syndicated daytime show, distributed by CBS, is covered by a different SAG-AFTRA contract than the one in dispute. The contract that covers talk shows, game shows, variety shows and soap operas was renewed and ratified by union members in 2022. Do you believe that talk shows should go dark in solidarity with the strikes, as some other shows have done?
