2. French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) descended from aristocracy, yet chose to live in the working class neighborhood of Montmartre where he produced paintings, prints, and posters of the the lively, but sometimes sordid Parisian nightlife. It is believed he suffered from a genetic disorder named pycnodysostosis that causes brittle bones, and interferes with bone remodeling. Toulouse-Lautrec fractured both femurs as a teen. Although he developed an adult-size torso, he retained the short legs of his childhood. Have you heard of Toulouse-Lautrec?
