Deena Shoemaker is calling out the fashion industry for having inconsistent sizing conventions, also known as vanity sizing. Shoemaker noticed firsthand that she has clothing in her closet that ranges from size 5 to size 12 and they all fit perfectly. Shoemaker is making it her mission to bring attention to this issue by commenting on Facebook: “STOP telling my girls that a size 4 is the ‘ideal body size’ and the “epitome of beauty” if you’re going to change a size 4 into an 8 or a 12 or whatever number you feel like on any given day.”
