During the Tour de France, a jersey with red polka dots is awarded to the leading cyclist in the mountains, the leader in the best climber classification. The picture shows the original and the current jersey design. Why polka dots? When the jersey was introduced in 1975, the initial sponsor was Chocolat Poulain. The wrapper of their chocolate bar was dotted. Do you find it amusing that that is why the jersey is dotted?
