Back in 2016, Sweetgreen made waves by going cashless. And despite the controversy, which was both immediate and overwhelming, it's taken the cult-fave salad chain nearly three years to reverse its policy. Cashless restaurants, once deemed the business model of tomorrow, are suddenly disappearing. And it's neither a coincidence nor a bad thing. They've got a discrimination problem—a big one.
