Results: Food Rescue

The city I live in has a program where volunteers collect food that is still edible but no longer at peak freshness from businesses around the area such as restaurants and grocery stores. The food is then given out for free to anyone. They do this twice per week. Does your community have a program like this?

I went today and waited in line for 20 minutes and what I got was 3 bell peppers, 4 avocados, 3 bananas, two cans of Coke Zero, 1 can of dog food, 1 loaf of bread, 4 bagels, 1 pint of strawberries, a bagged salad, and a whole lot of potatoes and carrots. Does this sound like a good idea to cut down on food waste?
