The term is Lördagsgodis, or "Saturday sweets," and it began as a way for Swedish parents to limit their children's intake of candy during the week. So, they adopted a tradition to eat sweets, preferably on Saturdays! Do you set aside a particular day of the week to indulge in a particular food or drink?

Another Swedish term is Godisvägg which translates as "candy wall." Most local grocers have a section devoted to candy usually near the cashier for shoppers to select their favorites and mix them together using candy scoops, bags, and boxes. Reading about this reminded me of a similar setup in the USA years ago called Pick-A-Mix by Brach's Candy. Did you ever scoop and mix your favorite candy in a bag while shopping?
