Holodets. Holod means cold in Russian. This is a meat jelly made by cooking pork parts that contain a lot of bone, skin, and cartilage (such as legs, ears, and even hooves), then chicken is added to make a soup that chills into a jelly-like texture. Also known as Aspic, it predates Jell-O by several decades. The meat broth thickens when it cools into a not so appetizingly looking lump of jelly. The Polish version is called Zimne Nóżki. Would you serve this as your holiday meal?

Cuscuz Paulista. This cold cake is made from corn flakes or cornmeal, tomato sauce, tomato pieces, boiled egg, and canned ingredients such as peas, green corn, olives, and sardines. This is a traditional Christmas dish from São Paulo in Brazil. Is this a dish you would be happy to have on your dinner table?

Trim-a-Tree Dip. A blast from the past. This retro-recipe is a mix of cream cheese, cheddar cheese, blue cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and minced onion. Chill the mixture and shape it into a Christmas tree. Decorate it and surround it with Whistles, Bugles, and Daisies. Is this something you'd like to try?

Christmas Tinner. For our final entry of different and delightful taste sensations, we have this entry from the video game retailer GAME in the UK, which sells Christmas Tinner every year. This is a full Christmas dinner in a can! They started selling them in 2013 and have now added a vegan and a vegetarian option. Layer 1) Scrambled egg and bacon. Layer 2) Two mince pies. Layer 3) Turkey and potatoes. Layer 4) Gravy. Layer 5) Bread sauce. Layer 6) Cranberry sauce. Layer 7) Brussel sprouts with stuffing – or broccoli with stuffing. Layer 8) Roast carrots and parsnips. Layer 9) Christmas pudding. Can you see yourself digging into this all-in-one festive feast?

Roesti (Potatoes, onions, s&p, Olive oil, margarine made into a pancake) Fried and flipped once and then served. Taste swell but take forever to make as the potatoes and onion must be grated! This dish is from the Swiss.
