I have no moral objections to drinking alcohol. I no longer imbibe because of medication and preferring to have total control over what I say and do. But if someone offered me a tropical cocktail, I wouldn't turn it down.

Drinking can be enjoyable and add fun to an event. But it can also, when done in excess, ruin health and lives. Do you know anyone whose drinking has had a negative impact?

Getting drunk can be harmless in the right surroundings; or dangerous and live-changing in the wrong circumstances. Because of the latter, I think it's a disservice to use lighthearted euphemisms to refer to being drunk. Have you heard of these?

Were you aware of the origin of the phrase ,"Three sheets to the wind"? In nautical terms, "sheets" are the ropes or cords that control the sails of a ship. If three sheets were loose and blowing about, the sails would flap and the ship would pitch and roll in a storm, reminiscent of the staggering of a drunk.
