The lesser of two evils might be presented to us from time to time when neither option is an attractive one. Here are some of those choices I have had to make or would have made if given the choice. I have also included examples friends have had to make. Which option would you pick in the following scenarios?

My wife and I have a friend who is about 10 years younger than we are. We call her "Crazy Liz" because of some of the spontaneous decisions she makes when my wife and I would do some research first. When she makes a decision she goes for it 100%. For example, she uses the swimming pool in a local hotel every 2 days and has the body of someone 20 years younger. The downside is, the skin on her face looks like someone 20 years older (presumably from the highly chlorinated water). It is extremely wrinkled as if she had been a lifelong heavy smoker. The lesser of two evils - which would you pick? (Photo is not of Liz)

My lungs, heart and legs are like someone 20 years younger. Unfortunately my back and shoulders are showing their age and then some. I can take the grand-kids for long walks or bicycling but I can't lift them up or bend to give them a big hug. People think I am ex-military from the way I walk and I don't mind them thinking that but it is the lesser of two evils. Which would you pick? (photo is not of me)

My father was a good whistler if volume was the only criteria. He could use the 2 finger and 4 finger methods to summon us for dinner but he couldn't whistle a tune. He tried to teach me his "dinner alert" whistle but I could never manage it. On the other hand I could accompany any tune I heard on the radio in perfect pitch. Nevertheless I found it embarrassing to not be able to whistle to hail a cab or summon my dog without creating a spray of saliva and not much else. Meanwhile dad embarrassed the family if he whistled while he worked. Which would you rather have? (photo is not of my dad)

For my age (or any age) my eyesight is perfect. My hearing is less than perfect. Much less. I have tinnitus (ringing or whistling in the ears) so I don't need hearing aids but I do find it difficult to hear a conversation if there is background noise unless the person is facing me (perhaps I need to lip read as well). If you had to choose just one, which one would you pick? (photo is not of me)

I used to like rock music with lots of bass but I also liked symphony music with violins and woodwinds. Because of my tinnitus, my enjoyment of classical music has diminished and hearing the dialogue on TV and in movies has become a challenge. On the other hand I can still hit the right notes when I sing (in the shower?). Two to choose from. Which would you pick? (photo is not of me)
