1. Tried to support a Black-owned business for lunch today—Ava's Kitchen, which just opened at the end of April. The place is spotless, but whew… let me tell you about the owner. First thing I ask is why there are balloons tied to my chair when it's not even my birthday. She looks me dead in the eye and says, "Mind your business, those are Mommy's." I've been waiting on my food for 45 minutes—and I'm the only customer in the place. She was making good progress at first… but then paused for a solid 20 minutes to go watch Paw Patrol. Now, the customer service? Let's just say it's still in development. But the chef? She's a total cutie, so I'll give her another shot.
