2. In July, 2024, two large wildfires outside the town of Jasper, Alberta merged and on July 22 the town was evacuated. By the time the evacuation order was lifted, 358 of the 1113 structures in the town were destroyed by the fire. More than 80,860 acres burned before the fire was deemed "under control". 4. One effort to raise funds for the benefit of Jasper and its Fire Department is the "Rebuild Jasper Run". It is a multi-distance event which will be held this year on November 29.
