Proponents for the cashier's behavior state this is a turning point for mobile phone users and we need to be aware of our surroundings. They say it's rude to ignore cashiers while constantly chatting on the phone. The grocery store doesn't seem to agree, as it has apologized to the customer and offered vouchers for future visits.
