Housekeeping Monthly published an article giving advice and guidelines regarding a housewife's duties. They at first might seem archaic, but check off the ones that you think are sensible and / or you have ever done: (In other words, they translate to our time now)
Women should keep the noise down. "Children are little treasures and he would to see them playing the part. Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.
