Couples who live on either side of the Canadian and U.S. border are finally able to embrace at Peace Arch Park. The park, which stretches across the border, has been a loophole for couples to meet up ever since provincial and state parks reopened. The lines for the borders are staggered — unlike truck crossing or highway, where the borders are one straight line —so people can come and meet in the centre, without ever having to cross any borders. This park has now become a meeting place for couples separated by the pandemic and the subsequent U.S./Canada border closures. Do you know any couples who are separated by the border closure?

Peace Arch is unique among parks because it consists of two parks in two countries. The southern half of the park and the monument itself is owned by Washington State Parks and the northern half, by British Columbia Provincial Parks. The Peace Arch, dedicated in 1921, was the first such structure in the world. It was built on the International Boundary between Canada and the United States to commemorate the lasting peace between the two countries. School children from the United States and Canada donated money for the purchase of the land surrounding the Peace Arch and in 1939 the Canadian portion of the Peace Arch Park was officially dedicated. Have you ever visited Peace Arch Park?

Couples desperate for some time together are finding ways to deal with the border closure. Instead of walking down the aisle as they had planned , Savannah Koop and Ryan Hamilton meet on either side of the U.S.-Canada border — six feet and an international boundary apart. They meet on two roads that run parallel to each other between Washington and B.C. and go for walks and talk along the border itself. Sometimes the trees or a ditch get in their way, but they can still hear each other. Do you know any couples who have discovered unique ways of "seeing" each other despite the situation?

Windsor, Ontario resident Ashley and Detroit, Michigan resident Tom Cook, are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child together. The two doctors live and work on opposite sides of the U.S.–Canada border and have been separated since March — leaving Ashley feeling isolated and uncertain if her husband will even be able to be with her for the birth of their child, if the border remains closed. And they are not alone. Many couples are in similar, uncertain situations. Do you know anyone who is in a similar situation due to the border closure?
