Results: Hello, Old Friend

One of my old companion's most outstanding characteristics was a wonderful sense of humor. Always a source of jokes and little anecdotes to keep everyone around entertained. Is there someone in your life you appreciate for their ability to make you laugh or draw you into a story?

My friend was quite popular- even with parents. And not just popular, but generous in introducing me to new people. Some of whom were pretty unforgettable. Especially Joe, who was one of the most open guys I have ever known. Have you ever had a friend who made your life richer by introducing you to their other friends and acquaintances?

Some considered my friend shallow. But where some saw shallow, I saw someone smart who was a great teacher. Someone who taught me how to repair things- breaking tasks down into simple to follow steps. And who worked with me on my vocabulary skills, always willing to take the time to quiz me on new and sometimes exotic words- a great help when I took those college entrance tests in high school. Someone who was well and widely read and willing to share favorite passages with me. Have you ever had a friend who was also a mentor and teacher?

But the best times we shared were the hours we spent crafting when I was in grade school. We cut up magazines and made collages, paper chains, and story boards. Did the same to make beads of narrow strips of rolled up paper. During the holidays we made folded magazine Christmas trees. And there was that one week between Christmas and New Year's Eve we spent making confetti- armed with single whole punches and more old magazines. Do you enjoy sharing your interests and hobbies with someone?

My old friend turned 100 this year. Over those many years, it's possible some in our TW community have spent time with this well-known centenarian. Do you know my friend's name? Can you identify my friend?
