No, in this day and age civilized society has moved beyond relationships being laced with any instinctual sexual component. We are no longer animals that always experience more basic instincts in every situation we are in.

Yes, no matter what either party says there is always at least one member in any male/female relationship who feels something more for the other above friendship whether acted on or not. And if there were something introduced into the relationship that brought down their inhibitions one or both would act on that whether by speaking and/or acted upon their feelings of attraction.

Yes there can be more below the surface between both or one of the people. They might have lots of relationship like this one where they have feelings for the other person and use their perceived attraction and attractiveness as a way to boost their feelings of self worth and ego.

Do you believe there is more than one way to be unfaithful in a relationship? For example we all know about cheaters who practice sexual infidelity toward their partners. Can partners be emotionally unfaithful if they run to someone other than their partner to deal with their feelings with someone outside of their primary relationship? Can a someone be considered intellectually unfaithful if their primary relationship only meets their basic needs and they don't bother trying to build a mental bond and instead run to other friends or previous partners for their intellectual stimulation?
This is way too analytical! I am not your psychologist or psycho-therapist.
