My wife recently had her birthday and we're polar opposites of how we behave on our birthdays.

She like to keep it private. Yes, we celebrate, but that's more like a family gathering or us going out. She's very particular about "certain" people wishing her (don't even dare forget if you're on that list! Do or Die!!!!) in spite of her hiding her bday on social media around the time of her bday. She doesn't really expect presents (but appreciates them).

Me on the other hand, I advertise my bday as if it's a national event. Make no mistake - if we talk at least monthly, you'll know my bday is coming up! I love to celebrate and I love it when it's all about me (I know, it sounds narcissistic but it's just ego). My name anniversary is one week after my bday so I basically celebrate for 2 weeks straight. I don't keep track of who wishes me and don't really mind if someone forgets about my bday (it's a bit harder to forget to wish me on my name day so I generally get more people wishing that!). I love presents (though I appreciate more the fun ones, even if they are funny at my expense).
