Of course, there are major issues that can be roadblocks to forging friendships. But here are some less obvious qualities that might stop me from doing so. This is not related to my not accepting Friend requests on Tellwut. I'm afraid time restraints force me to decline all of those. ;-)

I don't think I could click with people who don't like animals. I'm okay if they don't adore snakes and gators. But many animals are so appealing, and touch my heart. Thoughts?

That might be a deal-breaker for me, too.

I don't want to be around people who are unkind or rude to service people (clerks, cashiers, servers, etc) who are doing their best. Sure, you can respond in kind if people are rude, but taking advantage of a momentary imbalance of power is mean. Thoughts?

Yep, that's a deal-breaker for me.

That behavior makes me squirm, but I could accept that trait in a friend.

This is a really quirky complaint, but I don't think I would want to become friends with people who dye their pets. There are white dogs in my area whose owner dyed the ears and tails of one dog blue and the other dog pink. It seems unfair to put a dog through the dyeing process for human amusement or fun. Thoughts?

Seems like abuse to me.

I don't like the idea, but it would not impact my wanting to develop a friendship.

I would not want to start a friendship with people who travel outside of their country and get irritated that everyone does not speak their language and that their native foods are not available. Being frustrated is okay. But getting indignant and feeling entitled is not. Thoughts?

Agreed. I don't need narrow-minded people in my friendship circle.

I think viewing your homeland as superior in language and food is a form of patriotism, and I respect people who get irritated when finding neither when traveling.
