This survey's title is a paraphase of an observation made by a pastor friend of mine. Regardless your sex and whether you have ever been married, do you believe this observation is truthful?

If you are or were a heterosexual married woman, does or did your current or (any of) your former husband/s have a personality similar t that of your father or whoever played that ole in our life?

If you're a het' married man who knows your wife's who know your father-in-law, do you see any commonality or similarity in personality between you and him?

If you're a single het' man who would yet like to marry, do you believe being a father and husband was modeled well to you by you father or whoever played that role in your life?

A pastor friend once pointed out how challenging it can be for young people to form healthy expectations of relationships if they haven't seen strong models at home. For example, a young woman from our church—bright, driven, and heading to college to study medicine—has grown up without seeing a consistent example of a committed marriage. It made me wonder: do you think someone from a background like that might find it harder to trust or form lasting relationships, even if they deeply want one?
