Results: This is survey #2 about first dates. Some can be disasters. Some are something to look back on fondly. And sometimes a first date can end up being a bit of both.
In some first dates nothing much goes as planned yet this can lead to much more successful dates and many years of marriage. Sometimes how you both react to a first date crisis tells you more about compatibility than one where you both say and do all the expected things. Here are some more examples and members are free to provide their own stories, either to amuse or as a catharsis.

Some dates are a new beginning and some are the final curtain on a relationship going nowhere. Here are some examples. Which ones amuse you (or bring back memories - good or bad - comment) ?
Somehow the conversation turned to books we had read. I told him I was in the middle of Animal Farm. He laughed obnoxiously for an entire minute and then told me I was "too old to be reading children's books". I wonder if he is still an idiot.

This could easily have happened to me. "She asked my about my dog, so I showed her a photo. She said "Wow, he looks strong!" I said "That's because he's a "Jacked Russell Terrier" She said "I don't think you are funny" I said "OK" ate, my meal and left." A 15 minute date.

I broke up with my girlfriend at a restaurant and she started crying. People in the other tables thought I had proposed to her and started clapping. When I told them the real reason they booed me.

I think my dating days are over - hope so. I would never want to experience what the couples in these examples went through. Going out for a meal seems to be "fraught with hazard" I know I shouldn't find amusement in their discomfort but I do. Do you?
My first date and first visit to a sushi restaurant. I decided to order 13 rolls thinking each one meant one individual piece of sushi. Silly me. I was sure embarrassed when they had to join two tables together just to hold all the food.

Our meal came with a free dessert. He didn't eat desserts so I was eating his. Then he said "Did you know that, statistically speaking, your significant other is the person most likely to murder you?"

We were eating our meal and my date said something funny and I started laughing so hard a tortilla chip got stuck in my throat. While choking, I proceeded to throw up all over the table while simultaneously peeing my pants. That was awkward - just a little.

Going to the movies used to be a popular choice for a first date. Perhaps it still is - comment? Unsurprisingly perhaps, even in a darkened movie theater opportunities exist for "romantic derailment". Do any of these examples trigger memories?
My friend was deaf in one ear so he always positioned his date on the side with the good ear. One date, despite his attempts to redirect her, sat next to his deaf ear. He had to "fake" any conversation with her during the movie relying on facial expressions and body language. They eventually got married though.

I was on a second date and we went to the movies. All through the movie she kept looking at the guy behind us which was really getting to me until the lights went up at the end of the show. Her father had been sitting right behind us all through the movie.

I thought the latest comedy movie would be a safe bet. I think a sense of humor is important in a relationship. My date laughed in all the wrong places however, which was either a delayed reaction to a previous funny moment or a total lack of humor. Whatever it was, it really stressed me out having to wait for his next totally inappropriate cackle.
