Kai Bogert was born a female, but always felt male. He felt trapped in his own body and even thought of cutting off his breasts himself. He kept his real feelings a secret until he graduated high school, knowing he could not endure the reaction. The day he "came out" after high school was the second best day of his life, he admits. The best day was when he told his parents that he no longer wanted to live as a woman. Their reaction? His parents took out a "Birth Retraction" in the local Australia paper two years ago. It read "In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget Elizabeth Anne as a daughter. Oops our bad. We would like to present our wonderful son – Kai Bogert. Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room." Do you think his parents showed their love and support for Kai in a wonderful way?

Ryland Whittington, the subject of a emotional book called "Raising Ryland" is being raised by parents who not only have shown unconditional love for their child, but who also want to share it with the world. Ryland was born a girl, but soon after Ryland's fourth birthday, began insisting "I'm a boy". Some said it was a "phase", but the fact is that phases end. Now, Ryland is being raised as a boy (he is 8 right now), and the Whittingtons hope their story can help others going through the same thing. Do you find this a beautiful story of unconditional love?

If you are a parent, sometimes you have to realize that your dreams, hopes and future for your child is not theirs. It is their life to live, and not yours. All you can do is love them, as they are. Do you agree that this is the definition of a parent's unconditional love?
