Muslims around the world have entered the holy month of Ramadan. By fasting, abstaining from certain pleasures and by avoiding ill behavior during Ramadan, Muslims aim to grow spiritually and become closer to Allah and their loved ones. A common way to wish Muslims is by saying Ramadan Mubarak (which translates to Blessed Ramadan) or Ramadan Kareem (which translates to Generous Ramadan).

For the 30 days of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, meaning that depending where they live around the world, it can be easier or harder based on the length of day. In Canada for this year, fasting starts between 5:00-5:30 am and ends between 7:30-8:15 pm. That's roughly 14 hours. Would you be able to abstain from eating and drinking for this long?

I might give it a try - I'm curious if I can (plus I don't mind losing a few pounds by trying).

In certain countries, Ramadan Bazaars sell food close to evening. Food is usually cheaper and with a lot more variety compared to normal markets selling food throughout the year. They regularly don't have sitting areas to eat (they're meant to buy and take away), and are strictly seasonal. These bazaars tend to become really crowded close to the hour when fasting ends making for an actual tourist attraction worth experiencing.
