Forbes recently published an article saying this year saw an increase in baggage mishandling rate for flights (to 0.76%) which if you read the article sounds like a lot, but in fact it is actually statistically low (less then 1 bag in 100 and that includes delayed bags, not just lost and destroyed).
It's probably worse when they lose you bags on the way to your vacation and a bit less frustrating when returning, but it's still going to be a bad day when you hear this type of news.

When flying, bags need to weight a certain amount (limit imposed by airline). Did you ever exceed the limit? If yes, what did you do? Yes and I bought extra luggage to be allowed with everything.
