Trivia and travel! Two of my favourite things. These fun facts don't require you to have a passport, so hopefully you'll enjoy them! Vending machines are so prevalent in Japan that you can purchase just about anything from a vending machine. Some of the most unusual items include hot meals, Fortunes (like the ones in fortune cookies), emergency supplies (flashlights, first aids -- even food and water for free during an emergency power outage), cosmetics and skincare, toys and collectibles, fresh orange juice, canned ramen and even canned bread (yes, this is a thing). Have you ever bought anything unusual at a vending machine (here we have vending machines that dispense pizza and ice cream called dots)?

Norway's prison system is an exemplary alternative approach focused on rehabilitation, reintegration, and respect for human dignity. Many prisoners in Norway have keys to their own cells, reflecting their philosophy of treating inmates with dignity and fostering rehabilitation by making prison life resemble normal life as much as possible, with inmates often having keys to lock themselves in or out of their cells during the day, though officers retain ultimate control for security. This system supports the idea that punishment is the loss of liberty, not other human rights, and inmates can move freely in designated areas within the facility. Do you think this approach to incarceration is a good one?

In 2021, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, a health campaign was introduced to increase physical fitness. Residents could get a free bus ride by doing 20 squats in two minutes. The campaign was launched by the sports event "Sports Festival, and is valid for a single trip on the city's public transport network. The project gained international recognition, and in 2022 organizers decided to expand it. To get a free bus ride with the "health ticket 2.0," citizens had to complete a 500-meter ride with a bike in under 3 minutes. The project aimed to encourage the general public to find ways to introduce sport/movement into their daily routine. The campaign ended in 2022, but plans to reintroduce it are underway. Do you wish your city/town would implement a program like this?
