Insects are hexapod invertebrates of the class Insecta. They are the largest group within the arthropod phylum. Insects have a chitinous exoskeleton, a three-part body, three pairs of jointed legs, compound eyes, and a pair of antennae. In this series we look at 20 of the biggest insects in the world. 965KVKI is my source for this series. WARNING: This survey contains images/videos of various unusual creatures, that some sensitive people may find disturbing. It also contains a video that could be a trigger for those with trypophobia. The Sabertooth longhorn beetle, is a large and striking beetle with a fearsome appearance due to its long, powerful mandibles, particularly prominent in males. These beetles are native to South America's rainforests and are among the largest in the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae). The larval stage can last for up to ten years, while the adult stage is relatively short, only a few months, during which they reproduce. Larvae feed on dead or decaying wood, while adults feed on tree sap, leaves, and flowers. They are considered vulnerable due to habitat loss and deforestation.
