I was born and raised in Scotland and am proud of my heritage. I have lived in Canada since 1973 and am now an equally proud Canadian. There are times where our community was put to the test and we rose to the challenge. I needed a category for this and chose "nature," because it is part of our nature to help one another in time of need. I hope you feel the same about your country.

This first story is called The Mississauga Disaster from 1979, but it could also be called The Mississauga Miracle. I had recently moved there when this happened and it was the right move. Would you want to be part of this community?

This second story is about a tornado that hit my home town in 1987 at a time when this type of event was totally unexpected . A lot of what happened in response to this natural disaster was because of leaders stepping up and ordinary citizens pulling together. Would you be more proud of your city after an event like this?

This more recent event was in 2016 and, although climate change was blamed, there are rumors of a human cause. It resulted in the evacuation of an entire city and citizens of our province worked together to help those in need. Has your community ever been tested like this?
