Every time my dog and I walk past a certain property, if the owner's dog is outside, he does the same thing. I'm angling for some suggestions as to what the dog's actions mean.

As we approach the house, the dog rushes to the front of his large fenced-in area of the yard, and barks vigorously. He seems more excited than hostile. He then turns sharply and bolts to the back of the yard only to return carrying a Frisbee. It's the consistent repetition of this behavior that amuses me. (The accompanying photos are not of the actual dog, but a lookalike.) Have you ever had a dog do this as you walked past his property?

I really not asking you to put yourselves into the mind of a dog. (Actually, I guess I kind of AM.) But what do you think the dog's behavior means?

He wants you to throw the Frisbee so he can run and catch it.

He is proud of his possession and showing it off. "I've got a Frisbee, and you don't."

You're overthinking it. It's just a dog and a Frisbee.

Do you think my dog understands what the dog with the Frisbee is trying to communicate?
