When I got my rescue dog 2 years ago, her foster mom said she had been passed by for adoption for 3 years because of her anxieties. Now she is a lovable, well-behaved delight. But a few fears linger. I learned recently it is not uncommon for dogs to be afraid to walk on smooth surfaces like Linoleum, ceramic tiles, and hardwood because they can't get any traction. Companies even make booties and paw grips for dogs to deal with the issue.

Recently, when entering our apartment building, my dog and I waited on the weather-resistant entry rug covering a sea of ceramic tiles, as 2 burly men (walking side-by-side) climbed the staircase in front of us. I expected my pet to wait for them to clear the 4 steps before making her usual run up the stairs. But being accustomed to making a hasty retreat from the lobby, she bounded forward, running between the legs of one of the men. Fortunately, the human croquet wicket kept his balance, lifted his leg to avoid being ensnared in the leash, and let the dog continue onward. Would you have reacted so well?

Fortunately, the guys love the dog, and were simply amused. The event was more noteworthy because my dog is not a small canine, but rather a 45-pound (about 20 kilograms) Plott hound/cattle dog mix! Have you ever seen a dog run between someone's legs? Please select all that apply.
