Three years ago we took a risk and decided to adopt the dog we were interested in sight-unseen, based on her photos and the recommendation of her foster mom, Tammy. Two weeks in a row Tammy postponed the Sunday delivery of our Plott hound/Australian cattle dog mix because of poor driving conditions due to heavy snowfall. Would you see that as "a sign" that could make you second-guess your decision to adopt the dog?

The dog did not check out her new home. Not surprisingly, as an anxious dog, she lay still on the floor for 2 hours looking like she was trying to make herself invisible. (Dog in photo is not ours.) Tammy was conscious of her heightened distress, and lingered in our home for 3 hours, hoping to ease the dog's transition to her new life. Do you find that unusually kind and caring?

We had been told that the dog found comfort sleeping in a crate during foster care, so we had purchased one, which she slept in that night. Do you find it hard to imagine preferring being in a crate?
