Results: Looking back over a long (getting longer every day) and semi-productive life I have seen many fashions and fads come and go and participated in some of them. Some of them made sense, some did not and some were frankly ridiculous.

Before being politically correct made life more boring there were many temporary fashions and fads that faded away almost as fast as they arrived. Some of them we followed and, looking back we wonder why. Some we avoided and are thankful we did. Some we now miss and look back on with a variety of emotions (amusement, embarrassment, regret or a wistful affection for the past. Here are some that didn't really make sense at the time but we adopted them anyway (or are glad we avoided).
