Two south end Halifax, Nova Scotia brothers are continuing their tradition of going big with their Christmas light displays this year. The Giacomantonio brothers started the tradition 13 years ago to make their mother happy. "My mother loved Christmas lights and I always told my father that some day, she would have the best lights," said Nick Giacomantonio. Carman continued, "She never did. So we thought we would start to decorate for her." The brothers live a few doors down from each other and their displays get bigger and better with each year. Neighbors, strangers, even tourists come from all around to see the displays. The brothers use this attention to collect food for the local food banks, and shelters, and spread the holiday cheer. Do you think this is a great idea?

In Bismark, North Dakota, sibling rivalry has resulted in one of the best displays of holiday lights every year, since it started in 2008. Lights on Chestnut is a "dueling" Christmas lights show between brother and sister Gigi and Greg Witz. The two houses sit across from each other and the lights are synchronized to their own radio channel that you tune in to from your car. There are miles of extension cords, dozens of structures they built from scratch and as for how many lights... well they're not sure how many there are. Each year, the two siblings try to out-do each other, and this year will sadly be for many, their last year. Both siblings feel it is time to pass on the tradition to others, and move on to the next chapter of their lives. Have you ever participated in any "Christmas lights duel" with a neighbor, relative or friend?
