According to the American Legion, red poppies bloomed in France and Belgium during WWI, something scientists attributed to the soil enriched with lime from rubble left over from the battles. Millions of people now wear poppies every Nov 11 to remember the soldiers who died. The poppies are distributed on Remembrance Day, Memorial Day and Veterans Day, although they're more commonly worn for Memorial Day in the United States. Millions of people in the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Belgium, Australia and New Zealand will wear red poppies on Nov. Have you worn a poppy this year?
