He's one of the most recognizable people at any Toronto Raptors NBA game — and he's not even a player. Nav Bhatia almost stole the spotlight from the team during their stunning ascent to the NBA championship in 2019. His devotion to the Raptors -- Bhatia says he has attended every Raptors' home game since 1995, the year the team first joined the league -- and his unapologetic, enthusiasm was highlighted during that season. He even received his own Championship ring, when the Raptors won. Not only that, Bhatia became the first fan inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. And now, his life story is being made into a movie. Are you familiar with the man nicknamed the "Superfan"?

But, first he's going to conquer the small screen. On December 3, CBC will air the documentary "Superfan: The Nav Bhatia Story", chronicling Bhatia's life, beginning with his immigration from India in the 1980s, when he said and his family were forced to flee the country following a military operation targetting Sikhs to his becoming a highly successful car salesman and dealership owner. His success has afforded him the opportunity to attend all those basketball games. He founded the Superfan Foundation in 2018 as a way to bring diverse people in Canada and around the world together through sport. And, he spends $300,000 every year to send thousands of kids, who would never get a chance to go to a game, to Raptors games. Do you plan to watch this CBC documentary?

The movie, which is still in the planning stages, is set to star Kal Penn, who is famous for his role in Harold and Kumar and worked in the White House during the Barack Obama administration, in the role of Bhatia. "The Superfan is heading to Hollywood!!!" Bhatia said on Instagram. "I'm pinching myself. I have no clue what is going on in this life of mine right now. I am blessed to continue to share my story… [Kal Penn] thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting this role. It is an honour to have you play me. Happy to give you some tips on how to effectively trash talk the opposing teams." Do you think his life will make a good movie?
