Do your local middle and/or high schools have cheerleader squadrons performing and boosting attednees' morale at the games of those schools' football and basketball games (and maybe other sports')?

I ask the previous question because my church's pastor, who also drives a school bus, recently told me that there are no longer cheerleders rousing crowds at our town's schools' 'ball games , as was the case when I attended those schools (they also performed sometimes at school assemblies). Did the middle and high schools you attended have cheerleaders?

Instead of cheerleaders, the high school I attended now has a dance troupe (going by the same name as the previous cheer squad, I believe) who perform during half-time of at least some home games. Do you beileve this to be a fair trade-off (for school sports enthusiasts, the dancers who might othewise be cheerleders, the school and/or whomever else you want to consider)?

I'm tempted to contract someone at my town's high school to ask what precipitated the elimination of the cheer squad. It could be related to political correctness/cultural Marxism, to which schools in my town of under 20,000 population hasn't been immune in other regards. Or it could simply be due to a change in faculty. I recall a similar reason being why my burg's Christian high school disbanded its improvisational comedy troupe (a shame, that). If you can think of ay other reasons why public schools would shift from having cheerleaders to a dance tam, how about sharing in a comment below?

Recently in my reading of newspaper comic strips, I was especially amused by a in an installment of Archie wherein high school nerdy, brainy student Dilton was playing competitive chess on behalf of his school; there were cheerleaders at the match, but they were whispering their cheers because of the nature of the game. It cracked me up, anyway! Have you ever seen cheerleaders in a context you may not have at first expected?
