The "Woody" look may have made more sense when it was actually wood but the version Ricardo Montalbán promoted was plastic with a vinyl coating to give the appearance of wood. It was a silly addition but I liked it anyway. I never bought one however. Did you ever have a "Woody" - real or otherwise?

The middle of the front bench seat was the prime spot for one of the kids or perhaps a pet. No air bags and lots of hard things to hit in an accident. I never sat there. I was only slightly safer in the rear bench seat. If there were seat belts at all, they were only lap belts and we didn't wear them. Did you ever ride in the front middle seat as a kid?

Here is that guy Ricardo again extolling the virtues of plush velour seats. These were supposedly more comfortable than the seating in my apartment and the cars had more room. As I recall, they didn't stay plush for long and the steering was just as mushy. They looked comfortable but my various body parts thought otherwise. I find the car seats today are much more comfortable over long distances. Do you agree?

The doors on cars used to be much thicker but hollow and prone to jam up in even a slight crash. They gave very little protection in a T-bone type of accident compared to modern cars. The president has very thick doors on his limo but his will withstand a rocket attack. Does he need this level of protection on his way to buy his ice-cream?
