My "new-to-me" car from last summer does not have some features cars used to have. If you had the option, would you want to keep some of them? Here are some examples.

Not only do most cars not come with keys like these, some cars unlock as soon as you get near with the remote in your pocket or purse. I was at a hardware store the other day and couldn't get in my car because a fire station radio tower (or similar) was blocking the signal. I did eventually get in using methods I won't divulge here. I miss having an actual key. Do you agree?

Smokey and The Bandit made CB radios cool when previously they were mainly on trucks. Most of them have stopped using them but in really bad weather, this is the most reliable way for truck drivers to alert each other when there is a multi vehicle crash ahead on the highway. There should be an app for that but, until then, a CB radio can be a life saver. Have you ever used one?

I never had a car with pop up headlights and not all cars looked good with them. They did help keep the glass clean for a few minutes longer and they helped with aerodynamics but that was more than offset by the hassle when the mechanism didn't work when one was up and the other was down. Modern lights are brighter, more streamlined and almost shatter proof. I don't miss the popups - do you?

There are 2 items in this photo that were found on cars in North America but not in Europe. The first is the pedal to put on the hand brake instead of the more prevalent lever. The second item is that small button on the floor for the high beam lights instead of the lever on the steering column. The pedal made driving with a stick shift very difficult on a hill start and the button was difficult to find, especially when wearing boots. I never did like these features and don't miss them - do you prefer these old gadgets??
