Results: Steampunk, cyberpunk and solarpunk

Steampunk is also known as Victorian futurism. It's known for its gothic clockwork aesthetics, and is usually asociated with gears and cogs. It gives a futuristic, technological twist to the nineteenth century. Sometimes, Western, circus and piratical aesthetics are mixed into the steampunk aesthetics. The Ashes and the Sparks, The Inventress, The Madness project and Stormdancer are all examples of steampunk novels. The Cog is Dead, Abney Park, Steam-powered Giraffe and Escape the Clouds are all steampunk musicians. The Boxtrolls, Howl's Moving Castle and Wild Wild West are all steampunk movies. Cyberpunk is a futuristic, technologically advanced sci-fi fantasy genre. It's usually set in large-scale cities, and usually deals with issues such as cybernetics and artificial intelligence. Ghost in the Shell, Cloud Atlas, The Matrix and I, Robot are all cyberpunk movies. Warcross, The Lunar Chronicles, Ready Player One and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? are all cyberpunk novels. Antti Martikainen, Alpine Universe, M83 and Future World Music all make cyberpunk songs. Have you heard of this genre and do you like it?

Solarpunk is a futuristic genre often referred to as eco fantasy. It's often pro-anarchistic and describes an 'ideal' future in which humans live in peace with nature. Global warming, pollution and other major problems in the world today are nonexistent in solarpunk culture, and everything is solar powered or completely eco-friendly. Although it's relatively new in terms of works, there are plenty of examples that contain many elements of solarpunk. Beasts of the Southern Wild, Black Panther and Princess Mononoke all have many common solarpunk themes. Zahrar the Windseeker, Ecotopia and Daughter of the Centaurs are novels which describe solarpunk future ideals.
