Trivia
Death is a part of life, and as hurtful it is to have someone close to us pass away, there is nothing we can do about it. Tombstones serve as a way to both identify the person and also as a way to remember the ones who were once with us. Truly, there is nothing spectacular to death itself, as what a person has done during their life defines them way better. Yet, the one thing that remains behind, the tombstones, rarely showcase the peculiarities of a person.

John Yeast - When your name is John Yeast, you have to expect the plethora of puns and jokes that will be thrown your way. After all, kids are quite mean and even adults can't stop themselves from making a pun. It keeps us all on our toes and a well intentioned joke is always good to have around. God knows how many bread puns John probably made himself! I say this because his tombstone in Ruidoso, New Mexico has one of the best puns engraved on it: "Here lies John Yeast. Pardon me for not rising." Do you think this tombstone is funny?

Merv Griffin - Jeopardy has become a universally loved show and the obsession with answering the questions that stump everyone has become a great after-dinner way to lose track of time! You have Merv Griffin to thank for that! He was not only the host of the show (which aired between 1962 and 1986) but also its creator. And it was not his only hit, as he also created Wheel of Fortune! But the man was a genius when it came to presenting and the joke around him has been that he wanted one specific phrase inscribed on his gravestone: "I will not be right back after this message." In order to make light of the one he had to say when commercials started. The man passed in 2007 and this is precisely what he got on the tombstone. I cannot think of a more iconic saying for this man! Do you think this tombstone is funny?

John and Maurice Denby - You would not think that being a dentist is a profession that would get passed down through generations but in this family, it's been passed from father to son at least. John and Maurice Denby are not people who you have probably heard of, but they were indeed dentists and they also had a wicked sense of humor. The father, John, died in 1927, and on his gravestone is the phrase "I'm filling my last cavity." Which is just brilliant! Not only that but when his son Maurice passed in 1964, he was buried alongside his father, and the tombstone was updated to hold the added phrase "Me too." Seems like not just the profession was passed on, but also the sense of humor! Do you think this tombstone is funny?

Barbara Sue Manire - You may not have heard of Barbara Sue Manire, but her children made sure that "Her humor lives on", which is what her tombstone has engraved on it. What makes her gravestone hilarious is not the inscription itself, but rather the additional statue. Barbara died in 2005, aged only 64, and she wanted a parking meter that had a "64-year time limit", which meant that hers expired. It is a bit morbid when you think about it, but at the same time it is also brilliant and Barbara (and her family) have an amazing sense of humor! Do you think this tombstone is funny?
