I think we can all agree that tipping is getting out of control. Tipping in a restaurant for service is one thing, but now many restaurants add a mandatory gratuity of 18% to 20% automatically on larger parties (usually six or more). So, if you go out for dinner with eight people, who cares if the service is good or bad, your server still gets that 18% to 20% tip regardless. The practice of tipping began in Tudor England. In medieval times, tipping was a master-serf custom wherein a servant would receive extra money for having performed superbly well. What are your thoughts on mandatory added gratuities?

I think it is is fine, and if the service is exceptionally good, I'll even add more

Mandatory gratuity for large groups is fine with me. Individually, I prefer to make my own decisions on amount of tip. 0.05% 1
Haven't ever given 20%. 0.05% 1
I think it is is fine 0.05% 1
I don't like it. It makes the customer pay the salary of the employee, when the employer should be doing this. In the U.S., the $2.38 per hour rate paid to servers hasn't increased since it was started over 30 years ago. 0.05% 1
If wait staff were paid properly, tipping would not be necessary. I blame the restaurant owners. 0.05% 1
I should be able to decided if and how much I want to tip, know one has the right to tell me how much to leave for a tip. 0.05% 1
Is a bit slimy, but I understand the motivation. Larger groups can be more rowdy and difficult to tolerate 0.05% 1
I think tipping should be banned altogether and all employees should be payed by their employers 0.05% 1
I don’t mind if it is at a special restaurant…but not appropriate at local places. 0.05% 1
We need to force restaurants to pay their employees a living wage 0.05% 1
I think it's fine when servers have the hassle of serving a large party. 0.05% 1
Usually the servers are poorly paid and tips are the only way they can afford to live 0.05% 1
If you can afford to go out to eat, you can afford to tip waitstaff whose minimum wage is a criminally negligent only $2.15 per hour. Do you have bad days at work? You still get paid, and more than starvation wages. TIP GENEROUSLY!! 0.05% 1
my daughter paid with a credit card and tip was automatically added on to the bill. There was 3 of us 0.05% 1
Pay people what they deserve and get rid of tipping 0.05% 1
It's only like this because of the US pays their workers so poorly. They rely on the tipping system 0.05% 1
As a former waitress who never got to experience the autotipping I can see it's better reasoning, however as a customer I do find it offensive sometimes 0.05% 1
I would prefer the price of the meal to include pay for the servers, and really great ones would receive a little extra. 0.05% 1
multiple of the above options 0.05% 1
Pay your staff. Don't expect me to do it. 0.05% 1

In a viral video, which has raked in over 375,000 views, engaged couple Annabelle and James have one unusual wedding registry item -- a $231 speeding ticket. The couple, who are getting married a month from now, added the item to their registry, getting a lot of attention -- both good and bad. Some praise them thinking outside the box while others are shocked that they would even do this. So, what is your opinion of this?

Something that makes flying in economy class more bearable is having an empty seat next to you – especially if you rate elbow room alongside legroom in the comfort equation. But rather than leave the chance of an empty seat up to the fates, Qantas now lets travellers pay to keep that seat empty. It's called Qantas 'Neighbour Free' seating, and it's already offered across the majority of the airline's domestic network. Now, starting mid October, Qantas is testing out the option to keep the seat beside you free on international flights. Travellers booked on a Qantas flight which has a sufficient number of empty seats will usually receive an email invitation to take up the Neighbour Free option up to 48 hours before their flight. If the seat next to you is sold to somebody at the last minute, you'll receive a refund of your Neighbour Free payment. And it can't be used for carry-ons or children. The cost of this is between $45 to $200 depending on flight. But for many, it's well worth the price. Would you ever pay to keep the seat next to you vacant?

Designer Vera Wang may be 74, but easily looks twenty years younger. Her "secret" was a combination of sunblock, vodka, sleep, and work. Many assumed that her routine must also include a healthy diet, but it looks like that is not exactly the case. She loves McDonald's and donuts, often indulging in both several times a week. So, which of these things do you do...
