This one's for all you English teachers on here! A "kangaroo" word is a word that contains its synonym (letters in the correct order) inside it. These words are also known as marsupial or swallow words. The synonym within the kangaroo word is referred to as a "joey" word. For example, the word encoURaGE contains the word urge and MAscuLinE contains male. Here's some more: caTacOMB contains tomb, cHickEeN contains hen, obSErvE contains see, faLsIfiED contains lied, ChOCOlAte contains cocoa. Have you ever heard of this term (English teachers and everyone else)?

Italian Renaissance sculptor, and painter Leonardo da Vinci wrote his personal notes in mirror writing. This meant he wrote from right to left, and his words appeared reversed, requiring a mirror to be read normally. He used this technique primarily for his private writings, likely to prevent smudging, as he was left-handed. He also wrote with a special kind of shorthand that he invented himself. (Interesting theory about how Dan Brown may have come up with his 2003 novel's title, The Da Vinci Code). Did you know this interesting bit of trivia about this famous artist?
