Results: This is another survey mixed grill of recent news that grabbed my attention for a variety of reasons and some current beefs are thrown in for good measure.

They say "things happen for a reason." and scientists are sometimes given grants to find out what these reasons are. I think sometimes we have to accept that sometimes the reasons just don't matter. This survey illustrates that fact.

Have you ever noticed when you do the laundry that your underpants/shorts/knickers (or what ever you choose to call them) turn inside out in the wash and, even it you turn them inside out before tossing them in, they never go from inside out to the right way? They only seem to go one way. There must be a reason for that. Will you now do some research with your own underwear to verify this phenomenon? (N/A suggests you go commando - beware).

Continuing with the laundry theme, how is it that a Bounce or other fabric softener sheet can disappear while in the dryer and survive all searches to relocate it. Only when the search is finally called off is the dryer sheet found deep inside a pant leg or the arm of a shirt. If we knew how this happened we could take steps to prevent it or maybe look in those places first. "How does it get in there" - a job for a government scientist to find out perhaps?

The previous questions might involve research that is quite frivolous and we might think the money was not well spent. On the other hand, someone did research on how much of certain everyday items, if ingested, are killers. I suppose if there is someone in your life who you need to ice and you can't be bothered shopping for an actual weapon, you might have to get creative and use something less messy and obvious than a sharp or blunt object. Here are some (not suggestions) items that can kill. Did you know these items were this lethal?

Chili powder - 1.3 kilograms or 3lbs should do it.

Polonium - if you happen to have some in your kitchen (it is a trillion times more toxic than hydrogen cyanide) - 1 gram will kill everybody that ever cut you off in traffic and dissed you on social media - 50 million people in fact.

Here are three more examples of the results of scientific research. I own a white lab coat so I might do some of my own. Do you trust the scientists who did the following research?.

When you attach a weighted stick to a chicken's butt, the chicken walks in the same manner that the dinosaurs are thought to have walked. (see illustration)
