I have explored more of Canada than most Canadians yet I have probably only seen about 5% of it - it is just so darn big. Even then I still didn't know some of today's interesting facts.

Here are three more lesser known facts about Canada. Which do you find interesting?
Canada shares a border with France. St. Pierre and Miquelon is a self-governing French territorial collectivity of islands located about 20 kilometers (12 miles) off the southern coast of Newfoundland and Labrador in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is the last remaining territory of France in North America.

Canada also (literally) shares a border with Denmark. Hans Island is an uninhabited barren island in the Arctic between Canada and Greenland (Denmark). It was subject to a territorial dispute known as the "Whiskey War." One year Canada would occupy it, plant its flag, then leave a bottle of whiskey for the Danish who a year later would leave a bottle of schnapps and their flag. On June 14, 2022, Canada and Denmark ended this "war" by agreeing to split the island along its natural ridge line, creating a new international border.

Canada has its very own "Dead Sea". Little Manitou Lake in SE Saskatchewan was formed by receding glaciers. It is fed by underground springs and has a mineral content high in sodium, magnesium, and potassium salts allowing bathers to float easily. Native people brought sick people to the lake they named after the spirit Manitou. The earliest known practice of this was to heal Assiniboine people afflicted with smallpox.
