Quebec City is the only fortified city north of Mexico with its original walls still intact. The walls are a historic defensive system that includes 4.6 km of ramparts, four gates, the Citadelle, and three Martello towers, encircling the upper town of Old Quebec. Today, the fortifications are a major part of the city's UNESCO World Heritage site and are open to the public to explore.

A bear from a Winnipeg Zoo inspired the creation of Winnie the Pooh. A bear cub was purchased by a Canadian Army vet, who named her "Winnie" after his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He brought the cub on his way to serve in World War I. The cub became the unofficial mascot for his regiment. When he had to leave for the front lines, he left the bear at the London Zoo, where she became a popular attraction. It was at the Zoo that A.A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin, met the bear. He was so fond of her that he named his teddy bear Winnie. Milne later wrote stories based on Christopher Robin and his stuffed bear, Winnie.

Santa Claus is officially a Canadian citizen and has a Canadian postal code: H0H 0H0 as confirmed by multiple government actions including a 2010 citizenship ceremony and the issuance of passports to him and Mrs. Claus. This is part of Canada's efforts to assert its sovereignty over the North Pole, a region of geopolitical interest.

Canada has the highest tides in the world in the Bay of Fundy. This is due to the bay's funnel shape and a tidal resonance phenomenon that amplifies the incoming tides. The tidal range has been measured at about 16 meters or 40 feet.

Canadian police sometimes give out "positive tickets" for good behavior like picking up litter or wearing a bike helmet. I got one of these tickets for adhering to the speed limit in a school zone.

Canada is known for its official multiculturalism policy, which it adopted in 1971, and was reinforced by the Canadian Multiculturalism Act in 1988. This policy recognizes Canada's cultural diversity as a fundamental strength and aims to ensure all Canadians have the right to preserve their heritage, participate fully and equally in society, and be treated with equal respect under the law. In 2016, over 250 ethnic ancestries were reported by the Canadian population, contributing to a rich and vibrant culture and culinary scene.

Canada is the most educated country in the world, particularly regarding the population aged 25 to 64. According to the latest census data, over 57% of this age group has a college or university credential, and Canada leads the G7 countries in this metric. The strong performance is partly attributed to a robust college sector and high levels of education among immigrants (the legal ones).
