Results: I Don't Follow The Team; I'm Only Wearing Their Colors.

As I'm writing this, it was last week that I voted in my state's most recent elections, having arrived just as doors were opening to at my town's City Hall. As I was entering the building, I noticed an elderly man using a walker to get about approaching the same entrance. So, I held the door for him. Is that something you'd do were you to have been in my position?

That morning, I wore one of my favorite pullover caps. Its cotton composition makes it never too warm nor so flimsy that my head ever feels cold. It's also designed in a bright color scheme that, purposefully or not, matches the colors used by my state's National Football League team. But the cap contains no team logo nor any other indication on it that it's official team merch'. Do you own any clothing in the colors of a local sports team but isn't team merchancdise?

The man for whom I held the door made a bit of conversation with me by asking me about the latest game played by the team whose colors I was wearing. Has anyone ever struck up concersation with you about a local (I'm thinking state/province, but it could be a school in your town or one nearby, too) sports team when you were wearing that team's colors, regardless of whether what you were wearing was officially associated with that team?

I wasn't about to tell my new acquaintance that I don't follow the team about which he was asking me, though he must have had a reasonable hunch I follow them because of my hat. But, I do follow news in my state closely enough to have heard the score of the team's latest game; I was thus able to spend a few moments egaged in pleasant conversation with a fellow voter in my town about a subject more interesting to him than it is to me. Would you have done likewise?

Whether or not related to clothing you ilke to wear, do you keep up with subjects that don't really interest you in order to converdational with other people you meet who do care about those subjets?
